On October 8, the 3rd generation platform of NavInfo's new map production and distribution system, FastMap 3.0, was officially launched, which marks the era of deep automation and intelligence for NavInfo's new map production.
FastMap is one of the core technology platforms for NavInfo’s map production. It integrates the entire map production process from detecting, processing to publishing changes. Its functions cover production planning, field collection, inhouse coding, product release and complete with quality inspection process. Compared with the previous two generations, the newly launched FastMap 3.0 platform is integrated with more big data mining and artificial intelligence technology applications. Through automated recognition of changes and editing capabilities, it advances the company's map production capacity, accuracy, and efficiency to a higher level.
The functional upgrade from the 2nd generation to the 3rd generation is essentially an increase in data and computing power. In the era of big data, map production no longer relies mainly on the manually field survey mode. FastMap 3.0 platform is based on a large number of real-time back-returned sensor data, using AI technology it is able to gain insight into data updates which enables the platform to detect changes in road attributes, lane information, traffic conditions, etc. at any time. With automated editing functions, the latest data changes in the real world will be updated and produced in a fully automated form, with allows the update frequency at hourly or even minute levels and the geographic data change information will be published to the client terminal as a service API. Through the innovation of big data and AI technology, the company's map products are online, integrated and intelligently upgraded.
In addition to the improvement of its map production capacity, FastMap 3.0 platform will also be applied to future smart travel, smart cities and so on. The era of the Internet of Everything is approaching while any connected subject cannot be separated from the accurate description of time and space, and the needs based on real-time location will be further enlarged. In the actual application scenario, digitization is the premise of the Internet of Everything and geographical information, as the most basic component of digitalization will provide far more value than the current convenience brought by navigation function.
Since the release of China's first commercial navigation map in 2002, NavInfo has not stopped from developing in the field of location services. In the current severe market situation, the launch of FastMap 3.0 indicates that the company will still stick to its strategy, adhere to high R&D investment, consolidate basic technical capabilities, and lay a solid technical foundation for the development of its core business and autonomous driving business.
