On July 19, the 2019 BMW China Innovation Day was held at the BMW (China) R&D Center. The company announced its "four new transformation" innovation orientation, laying emphasis on the autonomous driving field. NavInfo, as BMW's Chinese partner for HD maps - a key field for autonomous driving, attended the event.

Patrick Cheng, the CEO of NavInfo, said in his speech, "BMW and NavInfo share the same pursuit of quality and understanding of innovation. Each cooperation has expressed both sides' judgment on the industrial development and their resolution on taking lead of the intellectualization of the auto industry."

For many years, BMW and NavInfo have maintained a close cooperative relationship. From the earliest case of commercial map data in the NDS standard format to the incremental updates, their cooperation has extended to charging piles, 3D data and maps for ADAS-related functions.

NavInfo and BMW carried out joint testing of HD maps in 2016, and signed the first order for L3+ autonomous driving system in the industry in 2019. In 2021, BMW iNEXT equipped with NavInfo's HD map will be released, which offers clients the L3-level autonomous driving service and support for L4 autonomous driving technology.

Patrick Cheng added, "As a leader in the automotive industry, BMW has set a clear example regarding both technologies and industrial guidance. We are honored for the trust of BMW and looking forward to the progress of our cooperation. We will empower BMW with quality and trustworthy products to fulfill our mission."
